Grom General Fitness

We are stoked to bring our popular off snow fitness program to The Compound! Getting in shape for snowboarding will include an introduction to circuit training, trampoline training on our MaxAir tramp, balance boards and some skateboarding! Dryland programs focus on general fitness, core strength, flexibility, and focus on snowboard specific muscle groups. Dryland training reduces the risk of injury while making snowboarding easier and safer, enabling athletes to reach their goals. For all athletes in our GROM Competitive programs,  participation in Dryland Training is mandatory.

General Fitness

We are stoked to run our General Fitness program out of The Edge School for Athletes. This facility offers a large NBA sized gymnasium and is located only 5 minutes from Canada Olympic Park. In combination with the Calgary Climbing Center, getting in shape for snowboarding proves to be one our-our most popular programs. Circuit training, indoor rock climbing, dodgeball and slack-lining will all be a part of getting in shape for the 2017/18 snowboard season. Dryland programs focus on general fitness, core strength, flexibility, development and strengthening of snowboard specific muscle groups, agility and endurance. Athletes wanting to become serious competitors need to be fit and ready for the start of the season. Dryland training reduces the risk of injury while making snowboarding easier and safer, enabling athletes to reach their performance goals.

For all athletes in our Competitive program participation in Dryland Training is mandatory.

Lil Shredders Aerial Awareness

Specifically designed for our Lil’ Sisters and Lil’ Bros ages 4 to 12 years old. This trampoline program is a great way to introduce the youngin’s to our coaches and other riders before they get on snow. With a pint-sized gym built specifically for this age group, it’s the perfect way for younger riders to get the same experience as the older riders in a safe environment. Learning and practicing freestyle tricks “off snow” makes “on snow” progression faster and safer.

Trampoline Aerial Awareness

This trampoline program focuses on rider awareness in the air, development of tricks, landings, and agility. Core strength and stretching are included. For all riders enrolled in our programs, this “off snow” program is essential. To progress in freestyle, riders need to be aware of where they are in the air throughout aerial maneuvers. Learning and practicing freestyle tricks “off snow” makes “on snow” progression faster and safer. *Please note there are two different times depending on the “on snow” program you are registered in.
