Calgary | Dryland Training (Sept-Nov)
Freestyle Programs Dryland training
*NEW*
We are stoked to run our new Dryland General Fitness program out of our new Compound 2.0 on Mondays 6pm to 7:30pm! Our facility offers a private basketball/dodgeball court/gym and in combination with skateboarding and trampoline, getting in shape for snowboarding proves to be one of our most popular programs. Athletes wanting to have a long healthy season need to be fit and ready for the start of the season. Dryland training reduces the risk of injury while making snowboarding easier and safer, enabling athletes to reach their performance goals.
What is Dryland training?
Snowboarders train during the off-season months to improve their performance and stay in shape for when they go back on-snow. Dryland programs focus on general fitness, core strength, flexibility, development and strengthening of snowboard specific muscle groups, agility and endurance.
What do you do during Dryland training?
General fitness/body weight training, games on our basketball court, in combination with skateboarding and trampoline aerial awareness on our 14x14 MaxAir super tramp. Our indoor skatepark has features for all level skateboarders. Circuit training and snowboard addiction training boards will all be a part of keeping our fitness levels up for the snowboard season.
For all riders in our on-snow programs, participation in Dryland Training is highly recommended.
Trampoline Aerial Awareness 12+
What is Trampoline Aerial Awareness training?
For all riders enrolled in our programs, this off-snow program is essential! To progress in freestyle snowboarding, riders need to be aware of where they are in the air throughout aerial maneuvers. Practicing freestyle tricks off-snow makes on-snow progression faster and safer. These sessions are a great opportunity for coaches and riders to bond before they get on-snow as well!
What do you do during Trampoline Aerial Awareness training?
This program focuses on rider awareness in the air, development of tricks, landings, and agility. Core strength and stretching are included. Parkour courses on the gym floor, balance tricks on the beams, tricks into the foam pits and trampoline training are going to be a part of our daily training.
